kitty cold?

tonymarinara Aug 24, 2005 01:08 PM

My cat has a cold. The nights are starting to get a little cooler around here, and the night that I woke up with a runny nose, so did she. LEt me rephrase that, I see no discharge, just sneezing. Her eyes are bit watery as well, but again, no discharge other than tears. Should I be worried? Is there anything I can do to make her feel better? If it is a simple cold, I'm not going to take her in, but if it gets worse,. she'll obviously see a vet. I just figure shes got a little cold like I do. Any advice?

If it gets worse I would call the vet.

Hi,

If the sneezing continues more than a few days, if your cat's appetite is affected, or the eyes become runny, it would be a good idea to at least consult with your vet.

Usually sneezing is not serious and will resolve on it's own.

How old is your cat? A vet told me once that cats do not get colds like we get. If they have a sneeze and runny eyes it's either an allergy or an upper respiratory infection, which can become serious. And in a kitten you should not wait at all with such a thing. If she's a grown up I would bring her to the vet if it hasn't cleared up by Saturday (27th).
