Newspaper ok for litterbox?

Is it ok to put newspaper in the bottom of the litterbox instead of litter?

I'm no expert....but I would hesitate to expose my cat to any chemicals that may in the inks. I know I am allergic to newspaper ink myself. With good litters out there why chance it?

There's that litter called yesterday's news that's made from old newspaper... it still has all the ink and everything in it.

Yeah...I know about it. I still have to wonder if the ink is really okay though.
