charma1979 Oct 14, 2003 03:47 AM

I have a female AFT i put her in with a male they've been together for a month now i know she has eggs inside of her but lately for the past few days she has become a hermit in which she used to come out and hunt like a cat but doesnt do that any more she also is losing her fat in her tail fast, i have put her in a tank on her own today with a hide full of vermiculite and moss as she may be getting stressed of the male also im hand feeding her a little baby food with lamb to help with her gaining back the fat she has lost i havent noticed any watery stools or discard in her mouth or nostrils i supplement her with vitamin dusted crickets every other day also she has a lid full of calcium and a dish of water, can someone give me advice please?

I'm not an AFT gecko expert, but separating them should alleviate some of the stress to the female. The energy of the egg production probably accounts for the fat stores in the tail getting depleted. As long as the female has been healthy all along & was previously de-parasitized (if WC or LTC), then things should be OK. I provided a link with a site that has multiple caresheets to compare methods of husbandry for this species.
