Two Rabies Shots-risk??HELP!!!

appleheadmom May 21, 2007 08:38 AM

My cat accidentally received two rabies shots within a three week period. Should I be worried? Is there a risk to his health? If so, what should I watch out for? He is 9mths and 12 lbs. He is my baby and I would die if anything happened to him. HELP!!

Hi There,

Your cat will most likely be fine. Please call the vet and find out what type of Rabies Vaccine was given and where they were administered. Some vaccines are safer than others and you will want to watch the injection site for swelling and inflammation.

I would want to know how this error was made also. It should be very clear on a patient's chart what vaccines were given and when. This should not have happened.

Take care,
PHKitkat
