Ringworm

dodgegirl77 Jun 07, 2007 09:59 PM

My kitten, 9-10 weeks old, has ringworm. I have been putting the over the counter Lamisil cream on it. How can I keep him from licking it off? Today I put it on and kept him occupied by playing with him for about 15-20 minutes. Do you think that was long enough for the cream to absorb?

Hi,

How do you know for sure that your kitten has ringworm? Unless it was diagnosed by a vet, and confirmed by a culture, you really don't know. I cannot imagine a vet telling you to go out and treat with something OTC, so I assume this has been self diagnosed.

Most vets would prescribe an oral medication to treat ringworm in a kitten, along with something topical, if needed. You should never attempt to treat a cat with any human drugs on your own. Please stop using the OTC stuff. You may be putting your kitten's health or life in danger.

I recommend making an appointment to take your kitten in ASAP.
