dan felice Jul 01, 2007 08:25 AM

i was recently told that it is bad to let one's cat eat tuna fish but ok to let them have the water from the can. i never got a clear reason why, only 'that they hard it somewhere'. would anyone know anything about it? thanks!

Hi There,

This site has lots of info on why too much tuna isn't good for cats:

http://www.connollyac.com/showpracfaq.cfm?FAQID=168&Private=0

Since the pet food recall has been going on, my cats have been on a partial homemade/people food diet. I do feed tuna regularly but mix it in with some other things and add the necessary suppliments. I believe there is something in the article about not feeding table scraps, which I don't agree with.

Hope the article answers all your questions

Regards,

i agree.....i just did a job for an old, old lady who has a [very young looking]16 year old cat which she tells me she's only been fed table scraps it's entire life, veggies, et al. but i think i'll cut back the tuna on the 'spoiled one' just the same. thanks again & have a great holiday!
