Please tell me theyre just nightmares

botchlatear Oct 25, 2004 07:47 PM

My little white 3 month old kitten (Syren) has started doing something really weird. When she sleeps, she occasionally starts doing something like convulsing. Her whole body pops up and down. She was sleeping under me cheek and hit my face HARD when she did this. She wakes up, and starts purring half the time.
Please tell me it's just nightmares

sounds like she may be having dreams of some sort, but if you get really concerned call the vet and ask for their opinion.....

My little kitten does it too. But no as bas as yours sounds. His little paws twitch and sometimes you can see his little face moving, it almost looks like he talking or suckling. I was kind of freaked out at first too, but if you're really concerned call a vet. A lot of them will offer advice right over the phone, and its free of charge.

All of my cats dream with twitching paws, tails and faces. It doesn't seem to be only nightmares but normal dreams as well. Kittens seem to dream more violently, Kola has fallen off of a sleeping perch before. She used to creep me out because when she'd dream her eyes would open and her pupils would be so small you could barely seem them, it looked like devil kitten. Keep an eye on her and if she gets really violent or won't wake up when you tap her take her to the vet. Also if she does this at all while awake you should be concerned. As long as she's easy to wake and only does it while asleep shes most likely having a dream

I agree with the others, sounds like dreaming to me. If she wakes up easily and seems fine, she mostly likely is fine. After a seizure most are confused and stagger about. If you are scared though then by all means call the Vet and get some reassurance about the kitten.
