Getting the baby neutered.

blueyedtreefrog Oct 28, 2004 03:45 PM

Is 2 months old too young to get my kitten fixed? I found a low cost spay/neuter program that does it for $25, plus he can get his rabies and distemper shot for $10 each. The thing is he has to be at least 2 months old (which he'll be but just by a little) and 2 lbs. I doubt that'll be a problem either, he eats like a lil piggy! I just want to make sure that my baby will be ok. Opinions and advice is desperately needed!
Thanks in advance!

My Crash was spayed at two months old. I think it just depends on what vet is fixing the cat. I found Crash recovered much fast then the ones I waited until they were 5 months old.
I think it's totally up to and your vet. If he is big enough I would probably do it. When is the next clinic? If it's after he is five months old I would lean towards doing it now.

November is the last one until the spring. And I'm worried if I wait till then, he'll start spraying.

I'm picking him up some ringworm shampoo tonight and I'm going to give him a bath!! He needs one, he stinks!

If you didn't know, his name is Cinders.

I don't think Cinders can't be neutered until the ringworm is cleared up. I know for female cats they won't spay if they have ring worm because of the possibility of it spreading into the incision. I'm assuming it is the same for males. I would ask your regular vet.

I meant to say that I don't think Cinders can be (not can't be) neutered until the ring worm is cleared up.

I would go ahead and have him done. I agree, all Vets seem to be of different minds on when to do it. He sounds like a healthy little boykit
