jimfmcdonald Dec 22, 2004 06:14 PM

my F-1 chausie had her first three kittens five days ago and Im not sure they are getting milk from her. on matter how I try I cant get any milk to come out of her or see any sign of milk on the kittens mouths. Im not sure how much a kitten weight it at birth but I did start to weight them and on 12-20 they were all about 7.0 oz one 6.8 one 7.0 one 7.1 and each day they gain 1 oz. so does this mean they are getting enough or should they gain more? all help would be great! thanks.

It sounds like they are nursing. Usually if a kitten isn't getting anything they will cry incessantly until they do. They look comfy and happy and healthy and so does Mom! If you really are unsure if they are doing ok, take them and Mom to your Vet. As for seeing milk, I have never seen milk on kits faces, I have seen their little lips looking damp but no milk. Let us know. They sure are cute
