I am very sorry for the loss of your cat. It is a great idea to keep both of your new kittens inside. Many people have inside multi-cat households. I have found the best way to keep a cat inside is to never let them outside. If they don't go outside they do not know what they are missing.
Good luck with your new kittens. Let us know when you bring them home.

The best way is to bring them in, plop them down and say welcome home. Get them some toys, a nice scratching post or two, some food and some water and a couple litter boxes and any time either of them try to sneak out a door, spray them with a water bottle and say "No". Make sure that you show them the litter boxes. When I bring in a new cat, I always keep them in the bathroom for a while with the box, some food, water, a bed and some toys until I am sure that they have the box figured out. My bathroom is tiled so they automatically use the box. I have 18 cats and they all live inside exclusively and most would not dare to try to go out a door. Most don't even want to.

You said there are three litters around your area that you can get a kitten from. I would pick the kittens that seem the most friendly. Do you two from the same litter or separate litters?

im not sure . i guess it doesn't matter if they aren't sisters because they will grow up as play mates together so the'll be like sisters anyway.
It's so true that cats are like humans because each has their own personality. One cat could be friendly, pplayfull and affectionate whereas another can be moody, quiet and agressive so i guess i will have to watch them a bit and see which ones are the littlr playfull ones.

I have found that kittens from different litters bond better with me. They still play and sleep together but also like to cuddle and play more with me. It may just have been the cats we have had.

To make them stay indoor cats you just have to make them stay inside. All of my experience with cats has been they all want out. Even the two that I raised by hand and had never seen the outdoors before. Kitties are just curious and always want to see what's out there. But keep them inside, try not to let them sneek out, and they'll forget that it is so interesting out there.
Good luck!

Hi - You make them "outdoor" or "indoor" kittens. Just as you would a toddler, you have to train them that they live indoors. Simply do not let them outside! They may complain at you, but you are the "mom" and have to hold the line. It's in their best interest to be indoors where they are both safe and not a nuisance to neighbors.

If it helps with any guilt you might feel, you can always build them a little run attached to your house. We live in a second floor condo and have only a small balcony. I put a catdoor in my slider and built a catio outside on the balony out of two by fours and some window screen. My three go in and out as they please, enjoy the sun, have some flowers in there to munch on, and are safe from predators, mean kids, disease, car-squashing.... Of course, if this is ground-level, they would still be exposed to disease if another cat comes up and sneezes on them from outside the enclosure, so make sure they have their shots when they're due.

Remember, you're the mom, you decide. Good luck!
