Caring for a pregnant cat

Bratty_cat_12 Apr 28, 2005 04:23 PM

Sweetie's pregnant and I'm not sure what to feed her or if i'm supposed to change her bedding and stuff.
How should I prepare for the kittens?Mostly I'm worried about her diet.

She can eat her regular cat food as long as she is healthy and well to start with. I would have her checked by the Vet and ask what he/she recommends. I know some people feed the Mother's kitten chow but I never have and the Mom and kits do just fine. She will be pregnant for 65 - 68 days. Toward the end of her pregnancy you need to decide where exactly you want these kits to be born. Of course, she may not approve of your choice. It should be a quiet out of the way place, maybe a closet with the door slightly ajar so she can get in and out. Put a box for her with some nice soft towels and show her the box so she knows it is there. Now this does not mean that she won't decide that your bed or under it, or in a corner somewhere might be better. If you find her close to the end of the time in a certain place more often, move the box to that place for her use. Let us know how she is doing. And we love pictures
