How can you tell how old a kitten is?

fur_momma May 05, 2005 03:31 PM

Hello!
I just adopted a kitten/cat from the animal shelter, and I wonder if anyone knows how I can estimate how old she is. All they could say at the shelter was, they figure she is a young adult. She was caught in a trap as a stray and brought to the shelter where she has been for over a month. Now she is home and safe but has an upper respiratory virus. We are treating with doxycyclin, and she seems to be fine. She is only 5 pounds, and seems young.
Any ideas?
Thanks!
Jacqueline

I would ask the vet. They should be able to tell by her teeth. My guess from the picture is between 8 months and a yr.

Yes, a vet should be able to tell you her age. I also would guess somewhere around 8 months to a year. She is certainly cute
