hnbtexas May 09, 2005 02:56 PM

MY cat had kittens about 2 weeks ago. She had them in a box in my closet. Last week she moved them to my oldest sons room that is ok I guess. Then today I go to check on them and there was four now there is onlt three. What could have happened? SOMEONE PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!

At two weeks old kittens are going to start crawling/moving around more often. The kitten has to be some place. Start looking around. The mother might have decided to move them again.

Several things could have happened. One being the Mom put the kit somewhere. If so, she knows where it is and she will either move the others there or bring it back. If by chance it is lost, soon it will be crying for her. In my experience, if the Mother isn't anxious and pacing and calling, she knows exactly where her baby is. Watch the Mom and see where she goes. The other possibility is less pleasant. If for some reason the kitten died and sometimes they do....she may have removed the body so it would not smell up her box. You need to be looking around that closet real close and the other closet too. Let us know what happened, please!

Yes, please let us know if you found the other kitten or not. I agree that the mom would not be so calm if her baby were lost. She probably knows where it is.

Well I have never found the other Kitten, But one died and she carried it outside so I am hoping that she did the same with the lost one. We have two left and they seem to be doing really good.

Most likely that is what happened. She would not want it soiling up her little nest. Once they accept that the kit is gone, they do usually remove them. I am sorry for your loss but glad that the other 2 are doing well.
