Has anyone tried "Soft Claws Nail Caps?"

danaann Aug 11, 2005 10:29 AM

We are adopted a kitten (5-6 months old) from the shelter. We have had a cat in the past who passed away, we had him declawed since he stayed in the house. We now have a fence backyard and would not mind our kitten going out back when we do, but we don't want him to climb the fence. I saw that Dr. Foster and Smith has Soft Claws Nail Caps and I was curious if that would work??? Do they stay on, do they hurt the kitten?
It may be that kitty will just have to stay inside all the time, but I hope not!
Declawing is always an option (how old should they be prior to the declaw?)
Thank you for any advice!

If kitten is going to be going out, it is best that he have his claws for protection. I am sure that he can't climb a tree to get out of danger with the nail caps on. I have never used them and have heard varying reports. Some swear by them and others didn't like them at all. They won't hurt the kitten though.
