Kitten food

jenniej7 Nov 06, 2005 07:59 PM

I would like to know if it is bad for kittens to eat adult cat food. I have 7 indoor cats, and trying to keep the kittens eating the kitten food and the adults eating their own food is impossible. I do get the little ones to eat moist kitten food, but the dry food is left out and it's a free for all. Is there an all around good food that I could feed all seven? The babies are 14 weeks old. The other kitties range in age from 2 to 10 years old. I really need good advice. As of right now, my kittens would rather eat weight control/hairball care food! Crazy things!!! Thanks for any replies!

I feel your pain. I have 17 cats ranging in age from 18 to 2 and when the little ones were kits, they preferred everything but kitten chow and of course the big cats wanted the kitten chow. I eventually gave up. I now have a selection of kitten chow, Iams hairball, Friskies Original and Science Senior and no one seems to be starving. They are free fed the dry in several difference feeding stations, so they do have to wander about to get a little of all. All get 1/3 a can of Friskies every morning for breakfast.

I think it is a personal choice. If it's to hard to feed the kitten food try getting a good quality cat food to feed them.
Also ask your vet for his advice.
