dropping food rations

jadzia Jan 04, 2006 11:20 AM

Zephyer is going to be 6 months old soon, and most books say that food rations should be brought down at 6 months.
At the moment he has free access to dry, which won't be changed. He also gets a 3 oz can twice a day. I was going to take him back to my older cat's ration of 1/2 can twice a day.
Should this still be enough for growth? And should the change be more gradual, maybe 1 1/2 cans sarting now untill his birthday (17th) then dropping to one, or is it fine to just go to one that day?

As long as he has his dry food I would say the 1/2 can twice a day would be fine. I feed all mine 17 adults 1/3 a can once daily and free feed the dry and no one appears to be starving

I agree with Tessie.1/2 can twice a day should be plenty with his dry food and possible treats.
Once in a while put about 5 of those small salad shrimp in his food.He will love you to pieces.LOL
Oh those small ones are inexpensive.Heck i nibble on them to.LOL
