kitten diarreah

jadzia Feb 11, 2006 02:44 PM

Hey there.
Zephyer has been having some digestive problems, namely some wonderfull diahreah. The vet didn't find any problem in a stool sample.
He is otherwise acting completely normal, full of energy and vigor. No weight loss, or dehydration.
This also happened about a month ago and lasted a week. We are on day three of this run, and I'm quite tired of cleaning his butt every time he visits the box. He didn't make it to the box at least once this time, and about three times last month.(full house carpeting-need I say more?)
The only connection that I'm not sure on is the day before the occurence this time I opened a fresh bag of dry food. Though I'm not certain, last month's occurance would have been around the same time. No changes in brand or type, just fresh. Would fresh dry food have something in it that staler food would not other than moisture? The brand and type is Royal Canin Main Coon formula.
There are also ladybugs in the house that he likes to chase, could he get this from maybe eating them?
Any ideas?

Fresh food doesn't make much sense to me. I suppose ladybugs could cause it if he ate enough of them but seems like he would always have diarrhea then. I don't have any ideas for you. Mine occasionally have diarrhea or loose stools but it always clears up in a day or so and I just attribute it to something that they ate that they should not have.
