Pregnant feral cat

catkowa Jan 05, 2007 08:47 PM

I have been caring for a feral cat who is about a year and a half old. (She was the daughter of another feral cat I was feeding) She will come to my slider door for food and has even wandered in but I can't trap her and she has already had one liter of kittens which have all been killed/died. I would like to give this litter a chance. By the time I saw the first litter they were already several months old and afraid of people. Does anyone have any suggestions of how I can keep track of her and the kittens. She is obviously pregnant so it will probably not be long. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Does she have a nice safe place in your yard to sleep? If not, provide her with one. My ferals liked the igloo type dog houses with straw and towels in there. If she has a safe place and food nearby she might just have her babies in there. However, cats tend to use the same place where the have given birth before. Your best bet is to catch her if you can and make her a house pet. It sounds like she is kind of interested. Good luck and let us know how it goes.
