Kittens not pooping

stthoffman Apr 22, 2007 09:48 AM

I have rescued 3 kittens that are 3.5 wks old. I have had them for going on 4 days and they have not had a bowel movement. I have got them to pee at every feeding by stimulating them. Is there anything I can to to get them to poop. I am afraid if it goes on any longer I might have problems. I have just put a litter box inside their box hoping to maybe get them to start using it. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Thank, Tiffany

I am going to presume that they have started eating. Pooping take the stimulation too and they may not have had enough food yet to poop since they didn't eat for a bit. If you are worried about them, take them to the Vet. If they are all eating and seem content, they are probably ok.

They did not really eat this past Thursday until late Friday and they have progressively gotten better and are not eating about every 4 hours 1T each (with a 7-8 hour lapse during the night). They are all peeing, with stimulation after eating. They seem content, sleeping well eating well. Is there something that I can look for on their backends that would tell me it I might have a problem and that they are constipated?

Hi There,

These 2 sites should give you all the information you need to hand raise kittens. It's best to contact your vet if you run into any problems, such as poor appetite or constipation. Sometimes these tiny babies will need a mini enema to clean them out.

Good luck with the babies and please keep us updated.
