Can something as simple as changing the color of substrate cause stress?

wideglide Oct 14, 2003 09:19 AM

For example, I want to try Mattman's solution for a substrate but don't want to add any stress to my already spoiled, handfed, recently reduced coccidia condo carrying little beardie. At least for a week or so until I quit the hand feeding. I want some more meat on her first.

So what do you guys think? Thanks for your help!

I, too, have used Mattman's suggestion & have found that none of my beardies seem to have been stressed at all by the change!

you are changing from a particulate substrate to soemthing like butcher paper or shelf liners this may cause some "depression" i know it has for my guys when i have had to change everything out when being treated for parasites etc. i used mattmans suggestion as well, but i kept half the enclosure wheat bran, so they can still burrow. anyhow, i dont think color would effect them too badly, a change in actual substrate i think may cause a change in behaviour.
