Sounds like you have a good shot at being a baby MHD mommy!
I would try to move them to the perlite just to get them to something where the moisture can be better controlled. With perlite if it is too wet it seems to sit in the bottom and jso that the eggs aren't too wet. It can dry out quickly but I jsut think it does a better job with moisture and it is pretty clean. I mix equal parts of perlite and water by weight. Once you mis this you will have a good idea of what weight should be and how it should feel so that you can maintain the proper moisture.
The one downfall with perlite is that if the baby hatches and the perlite sticks to the yolk sac it can dry it out causing problems for the baby. What I usually do is move the eggs to a small kritter keeper with damp paper towels in the bottom when they have started to pip. When one or two eggs is slit I just move them all to the delivery room
Then when the baby hatches it has a moist substrate and is contained so you don't have to go looking for or chasing new hatchlings.
I don't think I would wash them, just sort of brush the dirt off as it drys a bit. It really shouldn't hurt anything.
It is best not to mess with them too much so you are wise to just peek in to check for bad eggs and to monitor the moisture.
Congrats again,
