Emily is on meds for her inflamed gums again. The stuff is in a cream that I smear inside her ear twice a day.

This used to be trauma time for both of us--with me trying to get it in her ear while she was curled up in the kitty bed and her heading for the hills every time she saw me coming.

Last time she was on this regimin I finally had an epiphany. I picked her up, took her into the powder room, closed the door, and spent a few minutes just smooching on her before I put the stuff in her ear. The first few times I did this she bolted as soon as the door was open again. Now she stays with me--either in my lap or on my shoulder (one of her favorite places to be).

This morning I got distracted with something I was reading in the paper. When I glanced up, there she was--just sitting there waiting for her meds and her smoochies.

Such a little sweetie!

However...I have to wonder if this whole time she really liked the meds and was actually training you to give her more smoochies!!!!!

What a sweetheart Emily is!
Since Chris had his urinary tract surgery almost two years ago, the opening he urinates through gets all gummed up and we have to do "kitty hygiene" relatively often. We've hit on something; Daddy picks Chris up like a baby, schoozes and pets him which gets him to purring.....then Mommy (I) get in there with a warm wet washcloth and get him all cleaned up. He'll tolerate it for a reasonable amount of them and then he does the stiff-arm, stiff-leg thing trying to get away.
We have the best, most tolerant kitties!

she is such an angel! so cute! this is how we clip nails at my house... in the powder room and smooches. but then again, i think i am always smooching them. it's hard not too!
