jealousy

stacyann98 Aug 17, 2006 12:41 AM

do tonks have a jealous streak? my rigby, seems to have one. every time i try and pet both cats, he walks away. and if i am petting him for a while, then pet Izzy for 2 seconds, he walks away, and goes under the bed for a bit. so basically, unless he has my undivided attention, he goes and hides!

Tonks basically attach themselves to one human and consider themselves to own them...Rigby was there first so he staked claim on you...and since you are the only human in the house he seemes to be pouting when you have to split your attention...sort of a catch 22...they don't like being alone so another cat is great for them...but they want all the attention at the same time...go figure.

Bentley gets very jealous...but instead of pouting...he will simply climb on top of whomever I am petting and wedge himself between them and me...he will do this when I'm petting any of he other animals, when my son is on my lap and he will do this at night too when I am sleeping...he will position himself between me and my husband both arms draped across my neck and his butt toward Jon...sort of like saying "this is mine and don't you forget it"

ahhh, that helps explain it! i try to love them both equally, and give them both the same amount of time, but i can't win!
what a character!

well, it's funny too. because the minute a new person walks in, mom is OLD NEWS!

but we have a special game...if i sing a song made up of just Rigby's name, he feels special and loves it

That's really sweet.
Emily and Eddie each have their own special songs, too, with liberal use of their names in both, and they love them.

Purrs all around. In fact, Emily almost begins to drool when I pick her up and sing to her.
