I think the problem is the lack of pattern and bright colors. I happen to love black kings and used to keep and breed them myself. When Indiana passed the new laws in '98(I think), lots of people got rid of most of their native stock. The same goes for folks in Ohio and Tenn. Even though I don't have anything on the DNR list, I don't want them coming into my home, with the potential to make another new list. I'm not sure which states legally allow trade or sale of black kings. Check the herp laws forum for a more in dept answer. Good luck.
