Our terrible and devistating news

We just got back from the allergist because Bayla has been coughing badly for more than two months now. One of her allergies is cats. Bayla is 5. We have to give Levi up and we are very sad about it. I have found him a new home already, and we will be able to visit him and will get lots of supdates and photos, but he won't be my baby anymore and he won't be Bayla's little brother. I have already told the breeder who we got him from, and I am placing her and my friend it contact with each other because if she ever can't keep him, he goes back to the breeder, and the breeder can keep tabs on him as well. You should have seen poor Bayla burst into tears when the allergist confirmed her allergy to cats, her little heart just broke.

I am so sorry to learn of Bayla's allergies. I can clearly see by the photo that she loves kitties and this must be a horrible blow to the entire family.
I'm glad that you have some reasonable and positive options for your kitties........so many people don't.
Again, I'm very sorry.

I'm so sorry to hear you have to give up Levi...but at least you will still have contact with him and know you are doing the right thing by both Levi and Bayla...

Thanks Yak, we are very sad but Levi will be well loved and cared for, we can visit him, and it will be better for Bayla's health over all. Bayla burst into tears when the allergist confirmed it, and I asked him if there were therapies she could get. He said there are shots available, but she is only 5 and is terrified of needles. I did give her the choice though because I wanted her to feel she had some control. She opted for a new home for him over the shots, so that will make the adjustment easier for her to accept.

I haven't let him out of my arms since this all transpired.

ooh, my heart just dropped reading that. i am terribly sorry to hear that for you all! that is so heartbreaking. i've heard of special bath-solutions that are suppose to help with reducing allergies... just a thought.

Levi is already in his new home. I told Bayla she had a choice, she could keep him and get shots or we would give him up and be able to visit. I already had a home in mind in case that turned out to be the case before the Dr did the tests.

Levi is now living in Brooklyn in a 3 story townhouse that he has already made his own. Bayla set up his food bowls, his litter box, his toys, and put him in front of each to make sure he knew where everything was.

He is now with a dear friend of mine from work, and is a good comfort and companion to her since her daughter is away at school, and she lost her son at the beginning of the summer. As much as I miss Levi, I do feel good about where he is. He is bringing joy and love to someone who needs him more than we do.

When we learned of Bayla's allergies, I knew in my heart this was the right place for him.
