Little leapers

CarolEm&Ed Nov 11, 2006 11:17 AM

Emily and Eddie have always been shoulder sitters, and they both have no qualms about heaving their furry little bodies upward whenever they want to sit there.

Eddie also has never seemed to care whether he let me know he was about to launch. So, I've gotten used to having him arrive on my shoulder from the front, from the side, and even from the back--or worse, when he misguages the distance, to having him hanging off my back.

Emily has, in the past, always given me fair warning that she's heading my way. Until the other day, that is. I don't know what got into her but it seemed like whereever I went in the house, she was there too, leaping at me from whatever angle was available.

Does anyone else here have this issue with their Tonks? I love them dearly but those little claws do hurt!

That's pretty funny...well not for you I'm sure...but the visual I get of you walking though the house with random cats leaping at you!!!

None of mine sit on shoulders, but they will use me as a springboard to get to a higher elevation...

Bumbles, my only Tonk right now, has never been much of a shoulder rider. His one solid blue daughter, Storm, whom I lost at 3years old to renal failure, was my shoulder rider/sitter. I too got use to having the sensation of claws and having a kitty suddenly appear on my shoulder. I just got into the habit of making sure to clip her claw on a regular basis. You may complain about it now, but you won't believe how much you'll miss it when it's gone.

Carol: Chris has never been a shoulder rider. He is strictly a "lap-guy". The late, well loved SkuShi was more of a Tonk in that respect however she would only do it with Daddy (YakSpouse) and she always gave notice. She'd sit in front of daddy and he'd wiggle his fingers at about waist-level and she'd launch right up into his arms. She wasn't a shoulder rider either, she wanted to be carried like the princess she was.

Tonkinese cats, the Season's most gorgeous accessory!

Liat isn't much of a shoulder leaper either. She launches herself at knee level and tries to take me down.

i love it- the tonk accesory!
Rigby likes to hang his belly over my shoulder...so i don't get his claws that bad... he stands up on a counter and gets on his toes and reaches for me like a hug and just lies like a rug on my shoulder! it's really too cute...
