my new tonks

baka Dec 21, 2007 10:20 PM

I went today to check on my kittens which I am going to bring home in January. One is natural mink and the other is blue mink. When I saw the natural mink boy in October, when he was about 6 weeks old, he had blue eyes. Now, when he is about 4 months old, his eyes turned green. It is is unusual as I know because mink Tonks should have acqua eyes. He is still cute nevertheless. Is there any chance his eye color could still change into acqua? I would love that.

My other kitten, whith whom I met the first time, blue mink, disappointed me a little he did not want to be held and was trying to escape and run away from me. I heared the kittens have to select you. This guy does not seem to like me unlike his brother (the natural mink) who would let me hold and turn him around in different positions. I am going to take the blue mink boy, who was rather shy, still with me with the hope that maybe as he gets to know me he will worm up. He is really cute, even though he is younger, he has striking acqua-bluish eyes.

I cannot wait until they move with me.

Congratulations...it's always very exciting getting new kittens...

to answer your questions...all kittens (all breeds) are born with blue eyes then they change into their correct colors...not all minks will have the striking aqua eyes...the minks eyes range between a green aqua to the blue aqua...my parents have two champagne minks with greener aqua eyes compared to my Fin who has the bright blue aqua...then there is my Alastair who is a mink but has the green/gold color of a solid...it happens.

I wouldn't worry too much about the shy kitten...he will warm up, once you get him home just keep picking him up and cuddling him for short periods of time and he will come around...just let him know you are there to love him and it will all work out...if he starts being really aggressive then there's a problem...but sometimes they need a little time to warm up...

Can't wait to see pics of them...they sound beautiful!!!
