On a serious note...

Delilah, my newly acquired senior...whom is still occupying my guest room...has begun to pee on the bed recently...she will also pee in the litterbox which is cleaned frequently...so she is not protesting...just peeing.

I brought her to the vet yesterday and we are waiting on some test results...

Our insticts are telling us that old age is setting in and either she is getting lazy, senile...thinks she is in the litterbox, or she can no longer control herself...

Whichever the case, barring some catastrophic test results...I now have to figure out what to do...

The good news is when I wash blankets and comforter the smell comes out, the bad news is...she does this at random and ten minutes after I put the blankets back on she could pee on them again...Currently I have an egg-crate pad on the bed so none of the pee seeped into the mattress...and I keep spraying the egg-crate with Natures Miracle and it does not smell...

Because this is my guest room and I do have guests stay in it at times...you can see why this is going to cause a problem...

So, this is what I was thinking...let me know if you think it will work and/or any other additional suggestions you may have...

If I put one of those mattress covers on the bed...the ones used when kids are potty training...and just keep towels on the bed instead of the comforter and change out and wash the towels daily.

I know this is not her fault...poor thing...and just keep your fingers crossed for me on the test results...

Good news...Delilah's bloodwork came back normal...and her urinalysis showed a really bad UTI...so hopefully some meds will do the trick and the unwanted peeing will stop...

That is such good news.
When my dear little Piewacket, who is now at the Bridge, started doing that we discovered that she had a tumor in her bladder.

Hopefully the meds will take care of the problem. If not, I think the mattress cover and towels sound like the perfect solution.

Smoochies from us to all of your furbabies. And hugs to you for taking this poor little girl in and giving her a home.
