My new feeding plan... please comment!!

gabrielmtl Oct 14, 2003 11:29 AM

Alright here it is:

I have 2 chams. One male one female, brothers and sisters.

I give them around 7-8 medium crix a day, and I skip friday and sunday. They get dusted ligthly every other day, with a mix of d3 and vitamins.

Now this is my concern about gutloading my crix. I dont mind spending more money on better gutloading veggies and fruits, (now its calcium water bites and patatos) but i know that I if I put food in my aquarium with my 1000 crix in it, by the time they get to the chams belly, most of it got pooped already... this is what I want to do... everytime I feed my chams, I take 2 tuperware, pretty small, just for 7-10 crix each, and I put the gutload stuff in there... that way, the next day, these specific crix are well gutloaded and are going straight to the chams... I do that at every feeding to get the rotation going and voila..

you guys think thats ok?

That's a good idea. I normally have a gutloading contaner myself. I actually use a cricket corral for gutloading my crickets a couple of hours before i feed them to my chams. If you are a fairly lazy person, such as me, a cricket corral is great for gutloading and using it to feed your chams. it cuts down the work load in half.

I don't know if you know what a cricket corral is, but you can easily make something similar to it, f you don't want to buy one. its basicly a container with a long hard tube placed down in the middle of the container.

I normally place like some 40-50 cirkcets in the contaner(corral)when i want to gutload them before feeding to my chams. when feeding the crickets in the corral, remove the tube( also called a circket wand) so that circkets will not go up and hide in it, and they will feed on the gutload. about 10 minutes before you want to feed the crix to the chams, put the wand back, and the circkets will "load" the wand. after that, just tap the wand into your chams cage or feeding cup and a crickets will fall out. Its a simple product, but Its really a conveneint feeding tool to have around.
