Hello to all the Tonk Lovers!

Tonkinutz Jan 13, 2009 08:16 PM

I'm new to the cathobbyist and just wanted to say hello to all the cat lovers and specifically the Tonk lovers here.
My partner and I have been the proud servants of 2 crazy Tonks for the past 18 months. Teyla is our platinum mink female and Rugby is our platinum sold male. They will be 2 years old on 2/25. And they have stolen our hearts completely.
I've been a cat lover my whole life but only found out about Tonks after our beloved 18 year-old Siamese named Anna crossed the Rainbow Bridge in March '07. Once I'd read about the Tonkinese personality I was hooked, as was my partner.
Long story short, Teyla and Rugby ROCK!
Things my partner and I have learned since having our home taken over by Tonks:
1. Bathroom time is no longer sacred.
2. If we choose to yell at Rugby or Teyla for misbehaving, we will in turn be yelled at for having the audacity to attempt to discipline them.
3. Headbutts are an acceptable way of showing affection.
4. When our attention is needed, it is needed NOW!
5. There will no bed sheet removal or bed making without the approval and supervision of one, if not both, of our furballs.
6. Running away from me really means Teyla wants me to pet her as soon as I can catch her. (Took me forever to figure this one out!)
7. There will be no deviating from the morning ritual of drinking coffee while rubbing Rugby's belly. To him, there is no other way to start his day.
8. We are ruined for any other breed. Truly.
9. Being owned by Tonks will have your family and friends thinking you've gone the crazy route because conversations revolve around the latest thing they've done or the most recent picture you've taken.

Welcome to the Tonk board!

I think you will find that all of us here are in total agreement with your assessment. These little creatures are truly special and we are very fortunate to be owned by them.

Welcome aboard. It sounds like your two are typical of the Tonks represented on this board. In other words, they have total control of your lives.

Welcome!!!

I'm lucky enough to have 3 of these maniacs and I too agree whole-heartedly with your assessment...

Post some pics of your two when you get a chance...we always love pics...

I would love to post pics of our furballs but I don't have them up on a URL. Looks like I have to link a URL to post pics. Am I missing something? (One of these days I'll be computer savvy!)

This forum lets you download pics on it then they will show in your account and you can then select them in your posts..

look on the top of this page next to the CatHobbyist logo and click on the tab that says PHOTOS...then select TONKINESE and then click the UPLOAD PHOTOS tab at the top right...it will prompt you to log in...then follow the directions and the pics will become part of the gallery...but will also appear as an option to select when you post.

There is a size restriction per photo so you may have to resize...it will let you know if the pic is too big.

Otherwise if you open an account with say Photobucket you can download your pics there then just copy and paste the URL address in your post..

Hope this helped!!!

It definitely did! Thank you so much. I uploaded 3 different pics for now. Will have to pull some new ones off our camera.
Again - thanks for the detailed instructions!

Welcome! It is always great to meet more tonk lovers.

I too, am relatively new to the breed. My girl Sina just turned 2, so she is pretty close in age to your two. I love her more than words can say, even though she sometimes drives me crazy!

Again, glad to have you guys!

i couldn't agree more! well put!

i happen to close the bathroom door at times, and always find my two spazs right there, lumped against the door. they will not be denied!

Isabella isn't a "tonk" by blood, but she is by heart. I had Rigby first, and i think he rubbed off on her. and now she is just as playful and crazy as he is...

Tonkinutz Jan 22, 2009 06:40 PM

Your Rigby looks like our Rugby! Is he a Platinum Solid?

Ha! sometimes people call Rigby, Rugby instead!
He's a solid blue... and he is a nut...
