summer plans

So with the 4th of July coming up and it being summer and all, I was just wondering what everyone has planned for the summer. We have a semi-busy one for the first time ever. Our community has 2 pools and 5- 2 weeks sessions for swimming lessons. Katelyn (the 4.5 yr old) is taking her first class ever right now. I also enrolled baby Laura and I in a parent & me class at the same time. We are all enjoying it. Classes fill up fast unless you get there early to get a good spot in line on registration days. So for this session I was only able to get the last time, 6 p.m. Now I do water aerobics twice a week and that starts at 6:30 p.m. So twice a week I am getting out, handing the girls over to hubby and then getting right back in the pool. It's nuts I tell ya! LOL! The next registration time I will get there at 6:30 a.m. to be one of the first in the door at 8.
Katelyn also has summer preschool until the end of July. That meets M-W until 1:15. In two weeks, we'll enroll her in tumbling class again. We took some time off from that after Laura was born and then she started preschool and it didn't fit into her schedule. That will be on Friday afternoons.
And then we have season passes to Sea World San Diego so we go down there a lot on the weekends. And we try and have some play dates at local parks because some our parks here have wading pools for the under 7 crowd that are all of a foot to 1.5 feet deep.
Now I know why my mom dreaded summers.....all the running around to activities that we typically didn't do during the school year. LOL!

We are having a major personnel turn-over at work. I'll probably not be getting away anywhere until early September -- I am trying to coordinate going to Texas with my Mom's upcoming parathyroid surgery in Sept. It is out-patient, but she has to take it easy for a week. Since she is raising my brother's 3 1/2 year old daughter (actually has had her since she was a day old and adopted her), I want to go down and help.

Locally over weekends the next two months, I have a 1st birthday party to attend, a couple BBQs, and my 40th is next month. We'll have a large gathering of friends at Olive Garden for my BD. But, I am bracing for work to be hell the next two months with many leaving and unrained replacements coming in. Summer is always tough, but this is a worse year than ever.

Like, Tammy, it is probably going to be Sept before we do something and that is a long overdue vacation to the beaches in Jamaica. I haven't had a vacation in 4 years since I was the primary care-giver for Mom. I have been so busy, much less stressed-out, in getting her house cleaned out before the the new owners took over, that I am just now trying to get back to a semi-normal life at home and getting caught up on my own housework, after months of barely doing the essentials. I still have boxes to unpack from moving some of Mom's stuff but at least I can do that over time.

And also, work has been hectic here as well even though busy season is over so I am really looking forward to the beach!
