This week's burning question is
What food do you hate?
-----

Actually I will eat almost anything, but I don't like:
cooked spinach or other greens of that ilk,
vinegar
eggs
raw tomatoes

I love coconut!
I won't eat PEAS, tomotoes, spinach, cabbage, squash (ok most veggies). I do like carrots, green beans, cucumbers, green peppers (and other peppers), pototoes.
I HATE FISH, Lamb, duck, bear, deer, moose.......

YES!! I agree! Coconut! It is a sin to mix good chocolate with that vile stuff.
I also hate really hot, spicy foods that makes your mouth turn into a fire-breathing dragon.
Now fish, seafood (esp. lobsta!) I love (along with chocolate!)
Coconut and lamb are two items I don't hate, but I don't go out of my way for them. I have had them in dishes that are good, but I have had them in dishes that are bad. Especially lamb. You can really screw it up if you don't know what you are doing... I also don't like the peanut sauce on oriental dishes. Not a fan of my chicken tasting like peanut butter. I can eat all of the above, so I can't say I hate them, just avoid them.
I grew up with wild game in all forms and near farms (slaughtered animals), as well as I have lived in several areas in Europe/Italy. I have eaten things most probatly wouldn't dream of or think of, but there really isn't much I won't try at least once. The only thing I've ever turned down flat are Rocky Mountain Oysters (fried bull male parts that look like breaded fried mushrooms). But, on the flip side, I love Escargot (snails in garlic butter) and other interesting things... I've had good dishes made with brains.
So, I guess I "hate" fried bull male parts. Other than that, I haven't ran across a food I've truly "hated".

I never did like any kind of food with lumps in it, like cooked oatmeal, cooked pudding or tapioca pudding. Just thinking about them makes me gag! I don't like beans either except for green beans.
However, like Tammy, I do like brains. We had brain sandwiches a lot when we were growing up. I've never tried the fried bull male body parts and don't think that I'd ever want to if the opportunity were to come up.

I remember the Rocky Mountain Oysters were the rage in the late 70s when I was a kid. Anywhere you could get the fried cheese sticks/mushrooms, etc., they were on the menu. It hadn't come up in years, but it came up in conversation within the last couple months w/someone when they mentioned "oysters" but by a different name and we realized they were the same thing -- and he was from a different region of the country -- so it wasn't just a mid-western thing. Fortunately, my Dad let me know delicately early on what they were and I never tried them by accident (because I wouldn't try one with full knowledge of what it was). The oysters are strictly the ah... uh... OK, I'll just say it, fried balls. If you didn't know any better you'd think breaded mushrooms in a basket from the look. I avoided breaded mushrooms back then for quite a while until I knew it was safe to go back into the water without making a mistake.

Gee - after all this talk of fried bull parts, I feel like such a bland person for having never even had the chance to turn them down! Never had a fried brain sandwich either...hmmm
I wouldn't eat tomatoes until I was in my 20's. Then I had a locally grown Roma and was immediately ticked about all the years I had those awful grainy pink cotton balls grocers foist on the unsuspecting public. I'm a bit of a tomato snob now.
I don't like peas and bananas. Hate milk in my cereal. And watching someone dunk donuts into coffee is stomach churning. I like my meat as unprocessed as possible, will try any fruit, veggie but if it's a new super sugar crispy crud I won't touch it. Frito Lay and friends don't make much money from me.
Here's a question for y'all - if all the foods you know and love disappeared tomorrow, which one would you miss the most?
Me? Coke. I'm an addict.
ooooooooooooooooh, thats a tough one, but I guess I would have to say eggs, I could eat eggs every day

I'd have to say chicken, but reserve the right to change my mind after reading everyone's posts.
I pick chicken because if I could only eat one meat that is what I'd pick. Most versitile. Other meats sound great at first, but if that is the only thing you could eat, would get old...

I think I'd probably miss cheese the most.

Yeah, I'll have to agree with you on that one, no fried male parts for me either, and you can add snake meat to that also. Though I will try most things at least once...

Coconut - in any shape or form
-----
I am glad to see so many others not like Coconut. I HATED it as a kid. I can eat it now, but is isn't a favorite and don't go out of my way for it.
Everyone thought I was so strange for not liking Coconut when I was a kid. It is one of my Mom's favorite. She loves the Mounds and Almond Joy candy bars. I used to gag at the thought of them...

There must be a lot of us out there who dislike coconut. I refused to eat it as a child - and I had a major sweet tooth. I still don't care for it, and if I get one from a box of chocolates I will discretely get rid of it if I can.
