My Leo has shed 3 times in less than 3 weeks! Normal??

MrHobby Oct 14, 2003 01:12 PM

My Leo is currently in her 4th shed in 3 weeks! I have read that they shed often over a years time, but this is not what I expected. Is this normal? The first shed was very quick with no signs. The next 3 have shown a significant loss in appetite and take 4-7 days to complete. It seems as if she completes one shedding and immediately moves into the next. She hasn't lost any weight during the last 3 weeks, as a matter of fact, she has put on about 10% body weight. She hides a little more than normal, but shows her usual activity. What is the average number of times a Leo will shed in a year???

Thanks

how old is she?

when they're younger they'll shed more often then when they're older. when they're younger they can shed once between 2-5 weeks.... when they're adults they can shed between months or years depending on size.

He shed according to his usual schedule (about 17 days) and then he shed again 5 days later. Now he's back to his normal schedule. I don't know what it means, but he was having some problems with leftover skin on his toe from before I had him. There was nothing I could do but wait for the toe to come off. I'm wondering if that triggered it.

All of my other leos shed about every 16-17 days. I keep track in my calendar.

Thanks for the info! I think mine is trying to set some kind of world record! She has now completed 4 sheds in 23 days. I hope she is finished for atleast 2-3 weeks!
