The $5,000 question

kittyromeo Jul 23, 2007 07:27 PM

Okay Tammy, I'm kicking in a question....

Ten years ago my great aunt passed leaving a little money to my folks with stict instructions it was not to be used on anything practical - Life is for living. Mom and I used some of it to go to Ireland for 10 days.

If someone gave you $5,000 and you could only use it for fun stuff, what would you do?

$5,000 would buy a Honda Valkeryie motorcycle for Big Scary Man - they are huge, a 6 cyl car engine strapped to a motorcycle frame, and I'd look for a 1997, the first year they were made. The engine was so powerful, they cut the horsepower the following year.

Then I'd learn to ride the motorcycle he already has.

Hmmmmm, that's a good one. I can think of many practical uses, but frivolous, let's see.

Maybe take Pam to Switzerland. Yeah, that would be fun.

Travel or maybe a cruise.

Lets see since I am not fond of traveling ( was dragged about everywhere as a kid seeing places that famous dead people lived), I think that I would use the money to take about a month off work and just relax with the furballs and read and dine out and read some more and it could pay my bills for me

Oh, you are a tricky, sneaky one... Adding in the fun only part. I had several practical answers before I finished the sentence (send it to my Mom, IRA, CD, etc...)

OK. I'd probably use it to buy new furniture. Mine is seriously outdated and getting worn. That would be fun shopping for...

$5000 to blow? Ok, I would go for a few days at a fancy spa, massage, facial, the works, with my girlfriend. Then take hubby to New York to see a show and paint the town red! (as getting him on an airplane to go anywhere is out of the question)

This great aunt is who Punky is named for (as well as one of my parent's cats) - she was a small town girl, but she knew how to live - Eno was a social butterfly well into her 70's. I found a photo of her recently in a box mom gave me - Eno in her 50's dancing the twist in a mini skirt with a man who was not her husband. "Life is for living" - she not only followed her own advice, she lectured the doctor on her deathbed for being a killjoy.

Travel. Not that I like to go that much; it's just expensive!
