Paper or Plastic?

What's your dream job? If you are happily retired, what was your dream job (if you could do it over again)?

I currently work in a high-stress, crisis management type job. It pays the rent, has health benefits, retirement benefits, and allows me to send $ home to help my Mom with the baby, so, I am not going anywhere, but...

I have two dream jobs:

1. Own a small used book store. A friend in town owns one and would sell it to me (he's 75), but it is too risky...

2. Retire. I'd walk off the job today if I could...

I would love to own a bookstore too. Probably never will but that would be fun for me

I guess I am one of the few lucky ones that have a job they really enjoy doing - auditing and forensic accounting. Every audit or every investigation is different so I am not bored. I think of retiring but not yet - I am still having fun at what I do.

How great for you! What exactly is "forensic" accounting? You have me thinking an episode of CSI, but I am sure I am WAYYYYY off.

Actually, you are pretty close. I find the ones that either "cooked" the books or stole money from their employer. Basically, I find fraud and then build the case for prosecution so yes, it is somewhat like CSI only with accounting information instead.

How fascinating! I can see how that would keep your interest, ever changing scenarios...

At this point in my life, my dream job is more about having a sane boss than the actual work I'm doing. You know you've left a bad job when you're in the prosecutor's office five months after the job ended because the man refuses to comprehend the words "no contact"

I love teaching but if I couldn't teach

1) I would run/own an animal shelter/ doggie day care/ something a long those lines.

2) I kind of like the bookstore idea. But I don't think I could do it full time. I need to be moving!
