I'm gonna wash that grey....

kittyromeo Aug 31, 2007 04:42 PM

...right out of my hair!

Okay ladies! - 'fess up! Who here gives their color a little lift from a box or salon visits?

I am very lucky. I have never needed to. I am a redhead and I can see an occasional grey, but really don't have many. I am sure they will start kicking in more now that I am in my 40s -- you won't believe this, but I found a couple grey eyebrows the other day. Shocked me. I suppose I better get used to it. So far, so good on not needing to color.

I colored my hair until I got pregnant. I didn't start back up because I'm not working and can't justify the expense (my internal monolouge while shopping goes something like "I could buy 6 gallons of organic milk instead at that price! I'll wait until it goes on clearance...."

I have few grey hairs so I just pluck them out these days - which drives my balding husband nuts - how could I simply discard viable, head covering hair?

Oh yeah, every two months my hairdresser spreads the goop on my head. I have her do it, because the fear of green/purple hair if I did it myself,,,

Nope. Lucky genetics so not a lot of grey. My grandfather didn't get grey mixed in with his black until he was in his
eighties and my mom's the same way. The ones I do have aren't real noticeable. (And I lose enough hair everyday without plucking any deliberately! MOL)

I am lucky at 50, I still have very little grey hair so have never had to use coloring. Must be good genes from my bioparents. As I am an adopted child....was chosen at 3 days old by my parents.

Big Scary Man looks so differently from the rest of his family that his brother searched the house in earnest for years looking for the adoption papers, tormenting his younger brother with stories of how BSM was picked up from the dog pound, 'you don't belong here'....the usual type of torments only an older brother can deliver. When they were nearing their teenage years, BSM finally told his brother - 'they CHOOSE me! they HAD to take you!'

They are well into their middle years and still bickering - and this line still shuts Kevin up.

I've been having my hair colored since I was 50, so that's 15 years now. A couple of times Pam did it for me with not very good results so when I do have it colored, it's always at the beauty shop.

Yes- I admit it and have been for years! I started turing gray when I was 13, salt and pepper at 18, and totally gray by 25.

I've been coloring my hair for several years. I'm not ready to accept my gray roots yet, so keep them covered. I go to the salon every three or four months and in between visits use a semi-permanent color from Clairol.
