Have you bought any gifts this holiday season you want to keep for yourself or are keeping for yourself?

I usually don't but I bought a pair of silver earrings at Kohl's for a friend that I wound up just loving and am keeping for myself. I went back the next day and picked up a silver necklace for her that I didn't care for but knew she would.

Mom slipped me a little cash over Thanksgiving since I kept telling her not to buy for me. I was going to use it torward an inscribed ring with Punky's name, but Big Scary Man keeps adding to our gift list and I wound up using the cash to make the shortfall in my budget. I'm feeling a little resentful.

I hate that. I've had to do that and I know Mom has (used holiday or birthday gift money towards bills). There is relief when the bill is paid, but resentment when others in the family spend their money freely...

Same situation here. Mom gave me some money and I had to use it toward bills as I was off work with Pneumonia and didn't have any paid time off left. Used that for my Dad. And lovely work says you have to use 5 days of PTO before you can use your sick time sooooooo I went 5 days without pay. Bah humbug to them

Our workplace has the same policy, except it's 3 days of PTO before you can use your sick time. What's the point of even having sick time if you can't use it when you need it? And if a person doesn't have many PTO hours accumulated, they're just out of luck.
BTW, I did order a silver ring for myself from HSN as a Christmas present. It should be arriving this week. I've got everything else done. The cats are getting a catspa from Drs. Foster and Smith. It's a round disk with grooming brushes and a catnip center. I'll give it to them on Christmas; hopefully they'll like it. I never know how my cats are going to respond to new things.
