Who said cats are useless?

So Punky got this electronic gizmo for Christmas she is absolutely ape over - and I'm happy too. I've spent a year asking things like "Can you point to the cow on the book page?" with no success but many dirty looks because hey! Mama is supposed to read the book, not make baby work; but now when that soothing electronic voice asks "Can you touch ONE of the five frogs?" she happily jabs her finger over and over again on the picture of the five toothbrushes. Whatever, she is pointing when asked finally.

So of course the toy broke after only a week.

Last night Big Scary Man thought he'd take a stab at fixing the on/off button before we bought a replacement. So he kicks back in the recliner, Stink at his feet in a basket of baby laundry waiting to be put up, and starts taking out screws- 14 just to get the back off. 9 to remove the cover plate over the innards. 4 to get the circuit board cover off, and I quit counting after that. Stink is just sitting there, alert, focused in like a bird dog watching all of this.

BSM fiddled with this, fussed with that, and surprise! It starts working again. So all of those screws had to go back in. He scooped up a bunch and dropped two, which rolled under the recliner. "Get that Stink" Cat just sits there staring at him.

He was down to the last couple of screws to go into the back when that cat jumped out of the basket, fished them out from under the chair, batted them into a neat little pile next to the lamp base, and sauntered off.

Some days I would love to know what goes on between those ears.

What a helpful fur baby!!! Guess she knew that Daddy was about ready for them so she needed to get them. Mine probably would have run off with them

Yep, mine would have played them into DisapppearanceLand or else swallowed one of them! Stink may start charging apprentice wages! Great story!

At the risk of irritating hubby - BOTH!!

I know that Stink probably walked off with a swish of her tail simply because we both looked at her, but her timing was impeccable!
