One of the local shelters runs a fundraiser where visitors can vote (with dollar bills) for the furry Commander in Chief of the organization. Makes me wonder - who is President in your house?

Stink - paws down.

Lizzycat may be Top Cat, but she doesn't even attempt to dominate people. Stink does. She also is willing to suck up to get what she wants - will even promise to be a nice, kind lapcat, at least until you get that itch taken care of, than she's gone again. One day she's Anniecat's best friend so she can get her ears cleaned, the next she's beating Annie down. And when Big Scary Man is being really loud, say like playing with power tools all weekend, Stink will sleep with him knowing full well the other girls are rattled and afraid - he's her army.

In short, she's willing to make treaties and alliances to get what she wants, but will flip sides in a heart beat if it suits her. She'd make a great politician.

Absolutely no doubt around here. Patch of Beauty Onyxcita the Wimp (Onyx) is the Queen around here. She is 21 years old. Weighs 5.4 pounds and has only 3 teeth left but she rules the house with an iron paw and the others are scared to death of her. When the dryer is on, she lives on top of it. HER food and water dishes are up there. She will only allow the cats that she likes to get up there with her or to eat out of HER bowls. If she doesn't like one that gets up there, she knocks it off no matter how big the interloper is. Many of the others are 3 times her size but they live in fear of her anger and punishments. It is hilarious to watch her sitting in the middle of the kitchen floor and to see one of the younger ones, Charlee in particular try to creep through the kitchen as close to the wall and away from her as they can get keeping an eye on her at all times. She watches them closely. If she growls, they take off running like the hounds of hell are after them. I think she does that for amusement

A house without cats is like a garden without flowers

Definitely Octavia, the manx, (although dictator is more like it!) She'll even demand to be picked up and carried around. Sometimes Jeopardy has enough of her growling and will put her under a piece of furniture but then Octavia screams like she's been killed and DH goes and rescues her (even if Octavia started the whole thing). Medley will occasionally beat her to the prime place on the man's lap but if Octi's there first, she'll content herself to staying on the recliner arm. Catiya is just the meek little good citizen.

Know all about the demanding. Onyx sits on her dryer and yells at me if it is not running or if she thinks I have food that she wants and she doesn't feel like getting her old little butt off the dryer to come and get it. If her water is to low she yells. Sometimes she yells for me to put her ON the dryer if she doesn't feel like jumping up there or to get her down. She CAN do both but sometimes doesn't want to or maybe her arthritis is bothering her but she yells like a banshee.

Pookey always thought he was, and to the casual observer, he was, loudest, pushiest, etc... Stanley generally let him have his way because Stanley was such a mellow cat vice his hyper brother.

But, if Stanley really wanted something (...catnip...) He let his sheer size do the talking. Pookey couldn't budge him and he waited on the sideline until Stanley was done.

Currently, Pookey is the Commander in Chief, I rush to take care of his every need, LOL. He eats, etc., before I do...

Quentin is the dominant one in our house. He'll walk up to Star and push her off the couch so he can take over her sleeping area. Never mind that there are other places he could sleep. He will also eat her food after eating his portion. He's a faster eater than Star, and she'll let him take over her food dish when he's finished with his own. I have to intervene, otherwise Quentin would get several meals a day.
Occasionally Star has had enough of his bossiness and slaps him to the ground. He always seems surprised when she does this; like what did he do to deserve this? LOL.

I have no clue...you all can figure it out. LOL!

It used to be hands down...Al. But that was before Sheridan went to the Bridge a little over 2 years ago. And before Cookie came to live with us 2 years ago.

Right away Cookie let Al know that he would not tolerate being picked on. Any time Al tried, Cookie would swat him down and give him "the look". The same cat who never backed down if Sheridan or Cali didn't want to mess around, would immediately back down. He tried this for a year with Cookie with the same result each time. Cookie had been picked on unmercifully by the other cat in his former home and I guess he wasn't going to let that happen again. Cookie is also a bit older than Al so maybe he was letting "the youngin" know not to mess with him.

However Al still continued to let Cali know he was boss over her. When he got the notion he'd chase her unmercifully like always. Alot of times we had to step in cause he forgets he's just playing and starts to get mean and then she cowers and cries for help.

But with the last few months we've been seeing something....or not seeing something. Al doesn't do this anymore. When he does try, Cookie steps in and swats Al until Cali gets away and then won't let Al chase her. It's not like they are best buds....Cookie doesn't really like sharing sleeping space with the others unless he's cold. He prefers a human to the other cats. And lately Cali actually will do things to pick on poor Al. He'll walk by and suddenly THWACK Cali has pounced on him and wrestling him. But if he tries to chase her out comes Cookie. Cali doesn't try anything with Cookie. The first and only time she did, she got a hiss and "the look" and she hasn't tried it since.

For food they all take turns eating. Typically Al is first cause he has to eat at the same time every day or he sounds as if he's dying the way he carries on. But Cali and Cookie make their way in eventually and eat as well. Lap times....let's see Cookie cause he loves humans, never Cali cause she still won't do it, and Al only when it's cold but he just goes to the lap that doesn't have Cookie.

Bed time......Al. He's got bed rights first. Always has. Sometimes Cookie will join us but he doesn't push Al off or even move him over. He just finds his own spot. Mostly he sleep in the living room cause he's already been in bed with miss Katelyn for a few hours and we've let him out. Can't keep him in her room all night cause there's no litter box in there and he'll beg to come out at midnight if we forget. Cali just sleeps on an extra pillow nearby.

I don't know. Maybe it is Cookie now but I'm just reluctant to give up Al's long time status cause I know it bothers my poor boy. LOL!
