Why is it?

kittyromeo Apr 13, 2008 08:59 PM

Why is it that when the kid is ill, and you bring her to bed with mom and dad just to stop the crying, everyone makes adjustments to accommodate the extra body in bed - EXCEPT the cat?!? And how is it a 9 lb. animal can take up more room than a 30 lb child? everyone was cranky today from the lack of sleep, with the exception of the furball, how is that?

The mysteries of life I will never comprehend....

Bradley now has taken to sleeping in bed with us, um, let me specify, with me. He at about 7 -8 lbs takes up as much room as Kasha, sometimes more. Between the cats and hubby, I have 1/4 of the bed!

Somehow, cats have a way of growing to fit the space that they want to take up. I have no idea how this works but after many years of sleeping with cats I have discovered it to be a fact.

If you ever find out the answer to this question I'd like to know. I'm on kid #2 and still haven't figured that out. Heck I can't even figure out that if it's a week night how my hubby can sleep through the crying but on the weekends he'll roll over and say "is everything okay?"

How is little one doing now?

And hey...isn't your little one like a year younger than mine? How is it that yours is 30 lbs and mine is barely pushing 25 lbs? Whatcha feeding her? LOL!

she's tall.

Punky is now 26 months old and recently weighed in at 27 lb, 14 oz. Feels like 30 to me. And while she spent much of her first year of life tiny, petite, she had a problem with regular milk so we switched to organic. She's been growing like a weed ever since. We're guessing it's the lack of bovine growth hormone.

Hmmm....why did I think she was a year younger then? We'll blame my fried brains from having 2 kids. LOL! She's not that much younger than Laura after all. Laura will be 2 1/2 next month..so she's 29 months now. I give birth to petite little gals. But Laura also had a growth set back during her first year of life. She lost weight and we just didn't notice that right away cause she did gain in length still a couple months. But then that slowed down as well and with a few weeks the weight loss showed big time. Of course with the knowledge of it all now, I look at pictures and go "why didn't we catch it sooner?! It's obvious this was the start!" Tests were ran, keeping a strict feeding diary for months as well......all tests came back that she was fine, the diary proved that she had a wonderful appetite and ate very well. (better than she does now, picky little 2 yr old, LOL!) After months of doing all we could, right around her first birthday she suddenly started gaining and growing again. Because of all that she's on the low end of the growth charts for her age. But I suspect she's making up for lost time. Lately she's had a very healthy appetite. She's gone up 1 clothes size and 2 1/2 shoe sizes since Christmas. Can't really tell by looking at her though. She's a total flyweight.

Feel free to e-mail me. I'll send some recent photos to show her skinny little self. Wish I had the metabolism my kids have. hahaha!
