Stimulating Conversation

Cyclopsgrl May 15, 2008 06:24 PM

For those of you getting an Economic Stimulus Rebate check, do you plan to use it towards bills or spend it on merchandise to stimulate the economy?

I got mine in today and plan to spend it on bills. I will probably put it on my mortgage payment to boost it. Trying to pay off my mortgage a little early...

We'll be getting the money next month, and will use it to have our car checked out. It's been acting up in rainy weather. Not sure what we'll do with any left over.

We put half in savings, half went to a new stove. The old one was quite possibly from the 60's!

Last year I posted about how Romeo's old vet records helped me claim funds held by the state listed on missingmoney.com - it was less than a full share of stock from a PT job that came back to me years later, surprisingly valued at over $300! (it was under the minimum cash out value when I left the job) The website appeared on CNN News recently so I plugged my name in again. There was more money waiting for me. Looks like it was a payroll error from my last job. Today I got a check from the state - all for ten minutes of effort and the price of a stamp.

Check it out! It might be worth your while!

Checking it out right now! I had checked it out a few years ago when I first heard of it, but forgot all about it until you mentioned it just now...

not familiar with that one but I did have a similar experience last year...I had inherited a piece of desert from my brother. I knew the land was worthless, no water, no utilities, nothing, just sand. Anyway I just ignored it and let it go for taxes. Anyway, last spring they held the tax auction and some idiot bought it online for over sixty thousand dollars. I knew nothing about it till I was contacted by one of those companies that looks for that sort of thing and handles it for you for a percentage...haven't gotten the money yet, California is slow, but the company did give me a non refundable advance, so I am already ahead...as the the stimulus check, I think I will treat myself to a printer/scanner for the puter, the rest will go into the new roof fund.
