Quentin on Guard Duty

teganslaw Sep 07, 2008 09:19 AM

Quentin started something new lately. Right now he's staring at the refrigerator, has been watching it for the past hour. I checked underneath the fridge wth a flash light to see why he's so interested, but I don't see anything moving. Just a bunch of dust and several milk carton rings (the latter from Star who plays with the rings.) I checked several times but can't find anything. The only thing I can figure out is that Quentin hears some kind of noise. The fridge makes a soft humming sound, maybe that's what he hears and why he's watching it. Perhaps he and Pookey contacted each other, and Pookey told him about nasty fridge and ice machine monsters. LOL. So now Quentin thinks that he has to guard the fridge for me. I wonder how long he can keep staring. Maybe he'll tired of it after awhile.
Star doesn't have nay interest in the fridge, so this must be Quentin's thing only. Very strange.

Wonder what has his little cat interest. My cat Attila has a habit of staring at the ceiling in the family room. Always at the same exact spot. I never see anything up there and no one else is interested so it must be something in his own little mind.

Well at least he is guarding it. Ben used to raid it. He figured out how to pull on the kitchen towel I kept on the handle... and he helped himself. When I moved and had to pick out a new one, I got one with no handles!

Quentin discovered something, after all. Turned out there was a mouse underneath the fridge. The cats' litterbox is next to the fridge, and I noticed a mouse when I was cleaning out the litter box in the bathroom. It must have been hiding there for a short time. Quentin had gone after it, so we enclosed it in the bathroom so it wouldn't get far. The mouse seemed to be hurt, so we put it out of its misery. Quentin didn't do much except try to play with it. Then I thoroughly cleaned and bleached the bathroom. Everything is OK now.
I guess Quentin was trying to tell us something. I'm surprised Star didn't even react. Maybe she's not much of a hunter.
