Favorite Housekeeping Tip

cyclopsgrl Mar 17, 2009 05:54 PM

A friend of mine is writing a book and she asked all of us for several things (recipes, etc.), but one question I thought would be fun here.

////

What is your favorite housekeeping tip?

////

Mine is using wax paper to mold around and cover dishes in the microwave. Takes care of splatters and doesn't "melt" to the rim like Saran Wrap. Holds it's shape and the mess is thrown away with the wax paper... I hardly ever have a mess in my microwave to clean up.

I don't think I have any good tips. For the microwave I just put a paper towel over the top of the dish.

But my fiance doesn't. So I put a cup of water in the microwave and heat it to almost boiling. What ever is stuck to the microwave wipes right off.

Paper towel here too but the wax paper sounds good. My tip is that I keep my cat food bowls inside shallow box tops so that the little pieces that they managed to drop everywhere are mostly in the box top. And for the ones who play in water, I have their water bowl inside a big bowl so that they can splash and the water just goes in the bigger bowl and not all over the floor.

That's a good idea! Pookey is a little piggie when he eats. I'll have to give that a try.

I have put the food bowl inside a larger bowl with shallow water in the bottom on the rare occasions ants show up. The ants won't cross a line of water, so the bowl in a bowl with water works great. I got that tip on here a few years ago...
