I know that I had asked questions before about Boris being a Russian Blue. Could you point me to some information regarding the personality traits of types of cats. You see, it is Boris's personality that is so endearing to me. I have had only two other cats in the last 30 years as each lived a long, healthy life (18, 13). Boris is much more loving and more determined to be with his humans than my others were.

Right now we are in the process of working up some profiles for all the breeds. Russian Blues are usually considered very active cats, and often are very attached to "their" human or humans. Like several of the other breeds such as Abys, Manx, Burmese, Siamese and Tonks; Russian Blues like to help you and want to be where you are and see what you are doing. I like to call them "in your face" cats as they need the interaction with their family rather than being the stereotypical "independent" cat. That doesn't mean they don't hide under the bed if a stranger comes in, but they want to be in the presence of their humans most of the time. Often demanding to be the center of attention.

You have described him better than I ever could. My morning routine consists of trying to juggle cat in one hand and making coffee in the other. He has to be right where I am and very nosy to know exactly what is going on. He has to lick my neck and give me hugs several times each day. My other cats were never this affectionate.

You're lucky you only have to juggle one, I have several abys that I have to juggle. I saw his picture and he's absolutely adorable. You won't regret being owned by an "in your face" cat.

I was just reading this and I have to say I find a lot of similarities between Boris and my Bobby (nothing to do with fur color though). They both are mischievous, fascinated with water and very affectionate. I actually call Bob my 'nosy cat' cause he always needs to be around, close enough to know and see what I am doing. When I have visitors, Daisy just runs to a hiding place and Bobs comes, greets them and even starts playing with them. He likes the company of people

Well, it sounds to me like Boris is a VERY special kitty!! Also, I would like to point out that while he may be a Russian Blue, he also may not. Regardless of his personality, physical appearance, etc there is no way that I am aware of to know for sure. Whether he is a "true blue", or a battle scarred farm cat, nothing changes that he is special to you, and I think that down at the heart of things, that is all that really matters

This is very true. I have no intentions to show him or to breed him for that matter. I have been interested only to the point of the vets opnions and reading about some of their personality traits since his personality is not what I saw in my other two cats. I guess that is why I got interested in reading personality traits of several breeds. I have found similar traits with the Burmese but I had read about the others mentioned in the other post. I will also read about those traits too. I am glad that you are working on personality profiles as I have found this quite interesting. Like my other two cats, I always thought they were highly independent and not nearly as sociable as Boris is.

Hi there,
Boris is a handsome dude but there is no way to tell if he is Russian Blue or not. Unfortunately without a pedigree of registered cats, a cat without papers could be anything.
While breeds have some personality characterists, they can all fool us. That's what make them cats -- not dogs
You may want to visit a cat show to see if Russian Blues on the bench are a similar color and body type.
Good luck and enjoy him.
