MANIERI Sep 21, 2003 11:28 AM

1. Where can I buy a gravity nursing kit, with long tubes and long nipples?
2. Where can I buy stud pants for large cats?
3. I need good information on what causes white lockets in breeding pedigreed Maine Coon Cats, please.

It sounds like you may be a new breeder. Have you bought your cats from a reputable breeder who will also mentor you -- at least to some extent. Have you studied up and tested for diseases that Maine Coons are known for including cardiac and hip problems.

Nursing bottles and kits are probably available at revival.com, kvvetsupply.com, and fostersandsmith.com. They are sometimes available through vendors at cat shows too.

Stud pants are usually available at cat shows. Ask vendors. Ask other Maine Coon people. Some people use baby diapers and cut a hole for the tail.

As far as genetics, have you checked out Robinson's "Genetics for Cat Breeders?" The newest edition, about two years ago, is excellent and much easier to read than the first and second editions.

The Maine Coon breeders usually work together and have several associations. They also publish a wonderful magazine.

Good luck!

Thanks for writing back your suggestions.

"YES" to most of your questions...

I have not found stud pants, or the gravity nursing
feeder at any shows or on any online sites, yet. That's
why I asked on this forum.

I raise, show, breed and own as pets, healthy- personality plus- beautiful Maine Coon cats... no need to assume 'new Breeders'
have to be spoken to like we are idiots. This is one of the biggest insults that I have found in the associations and show hall... established breeders of various reputations, who belittle newer exhibitors and breeders, and play the "Click Game." We should be communicating and helping each other for the love of cats and the betterment of our breeds!

Are you a Maine Coon Breeder and do you currently show?
Thanks for your reply... I'll try the diapers idea you suggested.
