New stray

seragilo Apr 03, 2004 07:09 AM

My Hubby just brough home a stray and we already have 2 6 year old cats, who are a tad upset being locked in the basement! The kitten has already won our hearts over and we hope to give him a home. The only problem is we can not afford a vet bill right now.

While he is skinny for a kitten, his ears are clean, his fur while a little muddy is fine and he cleans himself regularly and he has taken to us like he was always a part of the family...one heck of a suck! I am afriad I do not know what else to look for...I am keeping him separate from my other cats to keep them safe from catching anything. Does anyone know of any tips or what to look for so we can possibly keep this cute wee thing. OR should we send him off to the closest animal aide?

I would keep him separate from the other cats for now. So you can find out if he has any of the kitty dieases. Usually need blood work done to find this out. You could have it all done when you get him fixed. Which should be done by 6 months. You don't want him to start spraying. There are programs that will help you with health care costs out there. I can't remember what they are called but there are some. Some times a local shelter will help with the cost of shots. Good luck.

Well, I would just like to announce the newest part of our family. His name is MoJo and he is an Himalayan, Siamese cross, seal point. Whew...what a mouth full. This is the stray my husband found. he has turned out to be a bit of a crazed kitty, but boy he keeps the older cats active! We took him to the vets and everyone who came in could not believe he was a stray and offered to pay the vet bills and take him home.We plastered our area with signs figuring he was accidentally lost, no one in their right mind would give up a beautiful kitten like this, but no one responed....so we are the happy 'parents' of a new kitten!
I hope to have pics to share soon!

Thanks for your help!
