Lonely kitty seeks female companion: London, Ont.

KellyNZaq Apr 10, 2004 03:54 PM

My 7 year old kitty Zaqkeri, is seeking a female companion! (Yes, he's fixed).

Actually, it's my roommate that wants to adopt a lovely kitten.

If anyone knows of a cat in need, let me know!

Have you tried looking up a cat/kitten on petfinder?

We have, but figured we'd check here too.. you know, leave out the middle-man, sort of thing.

Maybe we can adopt a kitty who's been in a good home, but needs to move on. That way, it never even has to SEE a shelter.

There are a lot of shelters that have foster programs so the kittens never see a "shelter". Also, at least in the US. I have found it is cheaper to adopt from a shelter then to get a "free" kitten from a person. My vet bills for the last free cat came to almost 300 dollars(two sets of shots, and a spay). My last shelter kitty including shots and spay was 120.
Good luck I hope you find the perfect cat to fit into your home. Oh you also might went to read the introducing new pets forum. I did not introduce my last kitten the right way and it was a horror show for about three months.

Actually petfinder.com is great! I adopted just a couple of weeks ago from the site. I wouldn't consider them a middle man really. What I liked about the site was I searched for the breed, sex, age of the kitty I was interested in and becuase you put you're zip code they put you in touch with folks in you're area. My new kitten Lucy was in a foster home and never spent time in a shelter or store cage. I just knew when I say her picture on the internet she was for our home.

Cost definetly varied on the rescue group you're dealing with and the conditions on which they took the cat or kitten in on.

Good Luck finding a companion,
Cheri
