trying to help a feral cat colony

cjgoatfarm Dec 29, 2004 09:46 PM

There is a colony of feral cats near my home and I would like to use the trap neuter return method to reduce their population. Does anyone know of any financial help I can get to have these cats spayed and neutered. I talked to my local humane society and they don't have the money. This is because they can't get any support from our county commissioners. If anyone has any ideas to convince these men that an animal shelter is a good idea, I'd appreciate hearing that too.

I think it depends on what state you are in. And who the vet is. When I lived in WA state (Long Beach) we had a feral cat fund. I trapped two females and it cost me 20 dollars to get them fixed and have a rabies shot.
In Maine we have Friends of feral felines that help.
Here is a link that has some good information.
