I have one more question regarding URIs. I've read that you can treat a runny nose with saline solution. How do I go about making this and what is the best way to administer (technique as well as dosage).

I don't know what concentration saline you should use, but how are you going to give a nasal spray to a cat? If you manage to do it, it would be useful to add a small amount of xylitol.
