tooth problem

kittysmom May 18, 2006 12:56 PM

my cat has a cementoma on the base of her front left tooth that has not yet caused problems with eating or pain. the vet suggested we leave it & keep checking if it grows, or causes problems. of course i'd prefer never to have her go through surgery for this, because it sounds very invasive (possibly removing some bone, etc.) her daily diet includes wet food, dry food, yogurt, and greenies. in addition to that, are there any recommendations you can make? thank you

I have never heard the term cementoma before. Would you check with your vet to be sure that is what he called it. The only change I would make in the diet is to stop the dry food and add fresh chicken, bones and all. This woulkd be a boost for the teeth, urinary tract, weight, and sugar metabolism.

my vet described it as a non-cancerous growth, and have read definitions that describe it as a lesion. thank you for your suggestions, will give them a try.
